This story is really fun! The illustration is wonderful! Such a feel good story and unlike some this is not heavy. It's perfect for all ages! Just met the author at a farmers market and I'm so glad I stopped. Looking forward to all of his books!

Four and a Half Stars. Beautiful story of brave Gertie, the giraffe who decides to cross the river. At first Gertie is not able to do it. With advice from Yank, what does Gertie do? Lovely rhythmic words, cute illustrations and sweet tale for children.

Great illustrations and well chosen rhymes. Could be made into a song. Children will ask for this book to be read to them repeatedly!

You don't need the whole path, just the next TALL step! In this picture book, Gertie the Giraffe is happy spending her days in the Savannah. One day, she happens upon an obstacle and she does not know what to do. Her friends try to encourage her, but it is not until Gertie is confident enough in herself that she can overcome her fears. I think this book sends a great message to young readers. It is possible to face a challenge, receive encouragement and advice, and as a result, become brave and strong enough to persevere.
